Technique right or wrong? You be the judge!Lawrence Ragos, CBFT Styles make fights. Sometimes, the boxing style is the difference in the result of the match. This, coupled with conditioning could determine the winner. The style comes from a background. It is self- taught or instructed by somebody. That somebody is the teacher— in this case the TRAINER. Boxing is a very tricky sport. Training is crucial. There are several training methodologies you can follow that are believed superior over another style— believed by the trainer himself and not the public who know boxing. Allow me to show you 4 points here: TO RUN OR NOT TO RUN? I am still old school when it comes to this. I still believe in doing roadwork. For sure running can be boring but it is a prerequisite in developing stamina— both short and long term. A lot of fitness experts have ruled out this one to give way to interval training instead of roadwork. They have a good point but in my opinion— WHY NOT DO... [Read More]
PACQUIAO WINS! MARCH 15, LAS VEGAS, NV: The fighting pride of the Philippines Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao became the new WBC Superfeatherweight Champion of the world by beating Mexican ring legend Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez via split- decision with scores 112-115, 115-112 and 114-113. It was a great super fight with both combatants suffering big cuts. It was a blood bath in the ring but neither fighter gave up as too much national pride was at stake. Pacquiao has now impressively conquered 4 weight divisions by winning titles in the 112, 122, 126 and 130 weight classes. Viva! Mabuhay! On a personal note, this fight was the closest one I’ve ever seen Manny Pacquiao fight. My God, I was gonna get a heart attack with the action! It was close but I’m glad he got the victory! The man thinks he should never lose for he has a responsibility to make his countrymen proud. His fighting heart coupled with hard work and determination makes him one of the best fighters in the world... [Read More]

Finally, after ignoring the suggestions of a lot of people to advertise through myspace— I got an account! It’s www.myspace.com/trainlikeaboxer. I haven’t had the chance to play around with it since I’ve been busy with my progress reports and Strategy opt- in report. Also, my email marketing campaign has been good so far. Although I am disappointed that comcast.net users did not get my newsletter, darn it! I am thinking of getting another URL to make email marketing better. Some sort of a www.lawrenceragos.com. I’ll think about it… Over the next week, I will be preparing the contents of next month’s newsletter. I will write something about Jumping rope, Pacquiao and our latest self- defense gig. Articles and pictures will be posted on the blog spot for that. I also have been given the nod by Roland Jesters from Sports and Fitness Magazine out of Sacramento, California to write the Boxing workout articles for their magazine. I feel honored and...
